MSI launches its most affordable Corei7 board: X58 Pro

The most affordable mainboard for Core i7

    MSI X58 Pro Series

MSI introduces the most affordable X58 mainboard on the market: MSI X58 Pro. This full spec mainboard is based on the latest Intel® X58 + ICH10R chipset that supports the Intel® Core i7 processor, along with ultra-high bandwidth QPI (Quick Path Interconnect) transmission and high-speed 6 DIMM’s 3-channel DDR3 memory. The main features of MSI X58 Pro Series are the 2nd generation MSI DrMOS and MSI APS, which improve the board’s power efficiency.

No MSRP released yet but you can expect it below $200 US (maybe $189 or something for MSRP) paying under $500 for the mobo/chip combo would be nice. . .

That seems pretty reasonable, and it would be great to get mobo/chip for under $500US which would be $1000NZ.

it could have been cheaper, having in sight that a core i7 cpu and ddr3 is still expensive

This looks like a great value mobo for your Core i7 965 EE Slug. In my opinion you should sell it and create an i7 920 rig.

I used to love my old socket A MSI board, so hopefully MSI still have that spark of reliability that they used to.
