Really? If I remember right. The 8800 was still faster than the 9800 series?

Well, the best card (up to date still in my machine) is me trustworthy MSI GTX 560 Ti. It is the one and only GPU I ever bought in my entire life :)

As a fan of AMD video cards, or ATI at that time, I would have to say Radeon All-In-Wonder X800 XT would be my favorite because of the multi-uses and crazy Domino-Dongles it had.

It could play all my games at awesome settings but didn't overclock that much since it also had a built in NTSC TV Tuner, but I knew that going in.

That GPU's launch date was May 04, 2004 which is the same day as this very comment!

Too bad that card is long-gone, but it's not forgotten.

    Happy Birthday X800 XT ! :D

Really difficult question to answer, there have been so many really great GPUs over the years.

For me the first that really opened my eyes to what a PC was really capable of was the Voodoo 2, so I guess that deserves a mention.

But for overall value, performance at the time and longevity my favourite was probably the Radeon 9800 Pro which, like my current 290X, was actually only a 9800 that you could unlock to a full Pro. Love things like that!

The 8800GTX deserves a mention too, it was a fantastic card.

I would have to say either MSI GTX560ti Twinfrozr II/OC as it was a quiet card, very powerful and lots of headroom for overclocked.

    or

My Chaintech 7600GT. That card lasted me for the longest time. Not the quietest, not the quickest but my first REAL graphics card (as my previous cards were a Nvidia FX5200, Nvidia MX440 or ATI 9600 PRO).
